when we go through the crappy parts of life, we deal with it in one of three ways.
1) outwardly: rebellion. hatred of others – worst case scenario: murder
2) inwardly: self hatred—worst case scenario: suicide
3) take it to the cross. remember jesus suffered the pain that people inflicted on you. he suffered, so you don’t have to dwell on it any longer. it was enough. that’s where forgiveness comes in. don’t get me wrong, it definitely takes time to heal. you have to grieve what was lost. don’t act like it doesn’t matter, because it does. just don’t let your heart be hardened.
forgiveness isn’t letting others off the hook, it’s getting the hook out of you.
it’s hard to admit that holding grudges hurts nobody but yourself. i want so badly for people who have killed me on the inside to realize what they did & tell me they’re sorry. but that’s not how life works. they’re moving on with life & your burden isn’t even fazing them. so why let it drag your spirits down? it really blows, but it’s the truth. you come to a point where you just have to let go.
so let go.
